Introduction

The Yongnuo YN622C II is an E-TTL radio wireless flash transceiver. This means that each unit can act as both transmitter or receiver. When placed in the camera’s hotshoe (transmitter mode) the unit functions just like the YN-622C-TX controller but since it doesn’t have an LCD display all the speedlite controls have to be made using the camera’s flash control menu. Only the radio channel and speedlite group can be set on the transmitter. The other transceiver is then attached to the speedlite (receiver mode) making sure to set the same channel and required group. This is a simple to use radio wireless system and much easier to understand compared to Canon’s Master/Slave wireless set-up.

The YN622C II now includes a 560-RX switch. This allows it to support the triggering signal from a Yongnuo YN560-TX controller (i.e. when switched to 560-RX mode it can only act as a receiver and cannot transmit the signal).

Guide Price: approx for 2 transceivers £92 / US$74

Compatibility

When used as a transmitter in 622 mode the unit can be attached to most Canon EOS cameras and used to trigger another unit attached to a compatible speedlite such as the Canon 580EX II or the Canon 430EX II.

It cannot be used as a transmitter in 560-RX mode. It can only be used as a receiver when switched to 560-RX and will need to be used with the Yongnuo YN560-TX controller.
